Although obscured by the mishmash and mosh pit that Tuesday’s game became after he left a tie game in the hands of his teammates, Michael Wacha continued to turn back time by, well, speeding forward.
While Mike Leake has been excellent and Lance Lynn has been Lance Lynn, if there’s a starter who has hinted at the dominance expected from Carlos Martinez this season it’s … Wacha.
After three consecutive seasons complicated and then compromised by an injury lurking deep within his shoulder, Wacha has started this year with four consecutive quality starts. Each has been right around that six-inning minimum. He’s allowed at least a run in each one. But beneath the surface stats there lurks the Wacha who was a sensation in 2013.
Velocity shows us why.
